Blake's Process for Rebuilt Engines

Thorough Cleaning

All rebuilt engines are completely disassembled. Blocks, heads, rods, crankshafts and camshafts are thoroughly cleaned to remove all contaminants which can lead to early component and engine failure.


Crankshafts are precision machined to exact tolerances, polished & magnafluxed , then inspected by our quality control department.

Cylinder Heads

Cylinder Heads are resurfaced to assure a proper sealing surface with the block and a finish compatible with today's new gasket materials. Valve height is miked and every head is vacuum tested to assure correct valve seating.

Cylinder Blocks

Cylinder Blocks are magnetic particle inspected for cracks or imperfections. Cylinders are bored and honed and inspected to precise tolerances. Torque plate honing is performed on specific engines to eliminate cylinder head distortion after the head is bolted and torqued to the block. This process eliminates a major cause of engine blow-by. Block surfaces are machined and then inspected to ensure proper finish.


Camshafts are inspected and precisely machined to provide correct lift.

Connecting Rods

Connecting rods are cleaned, then machined to O.E.M. specifications and honed to the standard diameter of original equipment for even distribution of stress on the bearings. New bushings are installed and machined in all bushed rods. Every rod is carefully inspected for bend and twist as are all remanufactured parts.

Fuel Accessories
Fuel components are remanufactured by skilled technicians in a climate controlled and electronically air filtered environment. Fuel injection pumps and injectors (both mechanical and electronic remanufactured parts) are remanufactured, tested and calibrated.

New Parts
Blake’s rebuilt engines receive a standard set of new parts such as pistons and rings, bearings, gaskets and seals, liners. Blake’s new parts assure consistent performance and reliability throughout the life of all rebuilt engines that leave our facility. 

Rebuilt Engines
To remanufacture is to make as close to new as possible. Most wearable parts are automatically replaced. All core material is closely inspected and checked against original equipment specifications for correct dimensional tolerances. Replacement parts are new or requalified. If new, parts are made in the same production processes as original equipment. Testing is performed to manufacturer specifications and original production standards. All remanufactured parts are also tested to the highest standards.

Blake’s DYNO TEST All of Blake’s Complete Drop-In rebuilt engines are 100% dyno tested prior to shipment. Using a state of the art Land and sea dynometer. Computer controls ensure that every rebuilt engine dyno test is conducted under standard, repeatable settings. All rebuilt engines are run through a warm up cycle; three separate segments simulating light, medium and heavy throttle conditions; maximum torque and horsepower tests; both high and low idle tests.


Remanufactured Parts Exchange Program

In addition to rebuilt engines, Blake’s also offers a whole host of reman parts and OEM parts. In 1973 Robert Blake broke new ground in the way reman parts are delivered to the customer. Robert Blake founded the remanufactured parts exchange program as a way to keep inventory of remanufactured parts always in stock. Today our valuable remanufactured parts exchange program contains over 20,000 reman parts at our facility in Denver, Colorado. This means that you receive remanufactured parts quicker (most of the time within 1 business day) which results in less downtime for your business.

Our warranty includes parts, labor and progressive damage. There is a 1 year warranty on all remanufactured parts. A 1 year warranty on aftermarket natural gas parts and a 2 year warranty on diesel aftermarket parts. In addition to parts warranties, Blake’s offers a 1 year warranty on engine service.
